Dr. Babafemi Adenuga

Dr. Babafemi Adenuga is a board-certified physician, diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the Howard University College of Medicine. He served as the Special Adviser on Health to the immediate past Governor of Ogun State. Before his appointment in Ogun State, he was the interim Chair of the Department of Community & Family Medicine and the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at Howard University Hospital from 2010 to 2015 and 2004 to 2015, respectively. He runs a clinical practice at the Marcelle Ruth Cancer Center and Specialist Hospital in Victoria Island.
He attended Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, for medical school and completed his family medicine residency training at Howard University Hospital. He is a fellow of the National Institute of Program Directors Development (NIPDD) and a member of the American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP). He has been in practice for over twenty years.
In 2011, the Washingtonian and Washington Post named him “Top Doc” and “Super Doctor” amongst his peers in the Washington DC Metropolis for three consecutive years, respectively. His interest lies in developing clinical programs, national and international measures for reducing health disparities, and the bio-psycho-social approach to managing patients with chronic diseases. He serves as the Medical Team Leader of the Sustainable International Medical Mission. This not-for-profit organisation provides free medical and surgical services internationally to developing countries through medical missions.
